A satire of Stalinist Russia, Animal Farm tells of the revolt of the animals of Manor Farm against their human masters. Led by the pigs Snowball (Trotsky) and Napoleon (Stalin), the animals attempt to create a utopian society. Soon, however, Napoleon gets a taste for power, drives out Snowball, and establishes a totalitarian regime as brutal and corrupt as any human society. Manor Farm becomes a world where all animals are equal--but some are more equal than others. Written by David Rickard

  3. in the novel animal farm there was once peace when the good pig was still alive but then once he was shot and killed a evil pig named napolean came up and took the leader position and ruled with a iron fist. Once napolean took the ruling position everything went wrong, he banished the only good pig left and he made everyone work really hard while he sits there and do nothing. Before snowball was banished there was a battle with the humans and snowball faught bravely even tho he was shot on the ear. That shows that snow ball shouldve became the leader cause thats more of a ruler thing. While snowball faught napolean did nothing and after he took credit and everyone believed him. After the banish of snowball the female dog was the only one who tried the most to take napolean down but nobody helped her since everyone was scared so she dont bring napolean down. At the end napolean and alot of the animals were killed but not the female dog and some of the animals cause they were smart and they hid in the forest to escape evil and when napolean and who ever followed him were whiped out they came back to the farm and lived happily after.

  4. The movie "Animal Farm" & the book "Animal Farm" by George Orwell are similar & different in many ways. Also the book by Orwell relates to the Russian revolution more than the movie does. The book gives more detail about the R.r than the movie and can easily relate more to it. One way on how the movie & the book are similar is by the scene where the windmill argument between Snowball & Napoleon. The scene was where the two pigs started to argue about the windmill & Napoleon drove out Snowball. One difference between the book & movie is the cat that was in the book which was not in the movie. The cat in the book was named Molly & in the movie there was no cat. The book talked about how Molly was stuck-up & still wanted to be with the humans. Another way that the book & the movie were the same was by how the scene where they talked about/showed the rules being changed. The movie also showed Squealer changing the rules. Also, there was another difference between the book & the movie. The other difference was how in the movie they hid from the farm & in the book they stayed on the farm. The ways that the book showed more detail than the movie was how it gave more info on things & showed more things to the reader. In the movie they left a few scenes out from the book, & some of the scenes might have made it easier to see how "Animal Farm" was related to the Russian revolution based on the movie. The book also was able to show how it related to the Russian revolution by the scenes gave more info & you could "see" how it was in relation to it. The movie only showed the big parts of the book & leaving out some of the scenes made it harder on viewer on how it related to the Russian revolution. The book was able to be more understood on how it related to it. The End.

The movie portrays the book very well, for a movie. It was very entertaining, it certainly kept me hooked throughout it. It was narrated by a dog. Also it like any other movie when relating to a book, does it well and messes it up. For example in the novel they wiped the animals. In this movie the animals totally freaked out and started a revolt. They also ended the movie by having animal farm start anew, however in the book it ends on the scene where the animals cannot tell the difference between the pigs and the humans. It also gets the movie right, for example when Major gives his speech, he is as accurate as can be. When the humans try to retake animal farm Boxer killed the human just like in the book. The film is easy to follow and to understand. There is a very clear chain of events, first the animals take over the farm, then they run it, then the pigs start being control freaks, then they blend in well with the humans. I’d say that the novel makes it easier to understand however, as it had no production costs so it could have as much information as it wanted without having to worry about cash. It relates to the Russian Revolution as well, Major is like Marx, as intended. He lays out the groundwork of the Revolution. Moses is like Rasputin, he preaches to the animals and is a self proclaimed holy bird, however they do not oust him like they do in the book. He sticks around. Over all this movie, like any movie based on a book has its own strengths and weaknesses, however I would recommend it as it is very entertaining. I am not going to talk about the plot as it would spoil the movie.

I believe that the movie accurately allegorized the Russian Revolution. Certain characters portrayed some of the people who had effects on the Russian Revolution such as Old Major and Napoleon. Some had positive and negative effects. Some events that happened were examples of what had happened in the Russian Revolution, but remained to stay with the plot of the movie, as they are about different things, in a way.
In the movie they had Old Major shot and fall off the top level of the farm, head first. However, in the novel it just stated that Old Major was shot and died. Another twist, that occured was how in the novel they had no cat, but the film had a cat. Another difference was how the movie had the male human attempt to feed Jessie Old Major after he died. Jessie barked and did not eat it because he found it extremely disturbing. But overall, the movie portrayed the plot and themes of the novel.
The movie succeeds well enough as far as the novel goes to helping me understand the theme by showing how leadership goes along with corruption.

There are many differences between the novel Animal Farm and the made for television film version. The first difference is the huge amount of detail given in the movie about the humans. In the film version, they show so much about how to humans act and their lifestyle, when in the book it’s extremely different. You barely hear about the humans at all. Another big difference is that the humans from the other farms were spying on the animals. This did not happen at all in the book. Like I said, no details are given in the book about the humans at all. Another example that shows how bad the of portrayal the movie does, is making a “main character” to narrot the film. It totally changes the story for me.But the major difference is the ending. At the end of book, the pigs seemed to turn into humans and the book ended. The movie had an completely inadequate portrayal of this. They did show the pigs turning into the humans, however the made the movie have a happy ending. This is so stupid in my opinion. The whole point of this story is to show the downsides of communism, and making the ended so different completely defeats this purpose. All in all, this movie is a awful depiction of the book and should be destroyed.

  9. 1) The beginning and end of the book are very different than the movie. In the movie we see, in the beginning, that there is more of an introduction to Mr. Jones and his wife. this happened before the meeting in the movie. In the end of the movie it shows what happens after Napoleon is gone. It shows after years, a new family is moved in to the farm and will live there now. It does not show that in the book. In the end of the book it just shows that napoleon took over and that’s it.

    2) The book and movie both resemble the Russian Revolution well. It shows how they broke apart from the main “government” and then created their own.

    3) In the movie, it was in the Dog’s point of view. I do not remember it being in the Dog’s point of view in the book.

    4) Some moments in the book are different in the movie but they go over the same thing. For example, in the book, it says that they spotted a pig walking on two legs then all the sheep came out on two legs and chanted “Four legs good, Two legs better” and then everyone was surprised. But in the movie it showed ducks singing and the sheep standing there chanting and then Napoleon saying that all animals are free.

    5) The movie misses some important parts from the book. In the book there were two mini wars and the windmill gotten destroyed twice. But in the movie it only shown the first war and first time the windmill was destroyed.

    6) In the book we know a lot more about the donkey and his beliefs and views in everything that is happening. In the movie we rarely know anything about him and what he thinks. all we know is that he doesn’t believe in Napoleon’s thoughts and beliefs.

  10. 1-At first animal hate human. Animal want to live in their own way and they don't want human control anymore. So they try to fight with human so they can live only them self.
2-The book and the movie was very different from the book. Is different because in the beginning of the movie they talk more about Mr.Jones. In the book they don't really talk about Mr.Jones.
3- The movie and the book was different was different but at the end is end up almost the same.
4- In the movie they missed some of thing in the book. They missed two time the wind mill being destroyed they only show one time.
5- In the movie everything was destroyed at the end of the movie but is doesn't said at the end of the book. In the book it said Napoleon take over but in movie is show Napoleon die.
6- Few year later human come live in the farm. But in the book is not show that human come live at the farm.

  11. Animal Farm as a movie, while still telling essentially the same story as the novel, has several key differences that make it a much weaker work in general. For example, the movie as a whole almost completely lacks the characterization that was so important to the novel's allegorical context. This is evident with several characters, especially Napoleon and Snowball. While the novel spends the vast majority of its early portion adding to the characters, the movie does very little of this, which takes away from the allegorical connections between these two characters and their historical counterparts (Stalin and Trotsky). Furthermore, the movie fails to capture the conflict between to characters to its fullest extent, further damaging the allegorical context. Furthermore, the movie omits the important Battle of the Windmill and Frederick’s betrayal of Animal Farm. This event in the novel was quite significant to the allegory, as it showed connections to Russia’s role in World War 2. Also, Boxer’s role as the working class was diminished due to the windmill’s decreased importance in the film. The movie also fails to adequately explain the theme of how easily power can corrupt those who hold it. For example, the movie doesn’t really follow Napoleon’s rise to power other than depicting Snowball’s exile. By not doing this, they leave out a large part of Napoleon’s increasing corruption as he gains more and more power. They also force the symbolism of Napoleon becoming more human at the end instead of subtly hinting at it, damaging the novel’s depiction of the theme. All in all, the Animal Farm movie is a completely and utterly inadequate depiction of a brilliant piece of literature. (Gabe Silverstein)

  12. After watching the movie version of "Animal Farm", I noticed a few things. Compared to the book the movie isn't as good. Like most movies, it doesn’t follow the book very closely. It spent more time on certain events while only briefly showing other events. For example, the movie focused on the Jones’ and the things that they did before and after they were on the farm but put less focus on events like how the animals were in the barn. Another thing I saw was that also like most other movies, this movie added scenes to it that weren’t in the book. For example, the bar scenes with the Jones’ and the other farm owners, or the ending scenes when Napoleon was gone and the farm gained new owners. Although there were a few differences between the movie and the book, the movie did have a few good points. Like the representation of all the animals was good. Each animal was portrayed just as they were in the book. For example, the portrayal of Boxer’s will and determination was very accurate. The scenes in which he kept working extremely hard in order to please Napoleon and help the farm really added to show that. The movie also does a good job of showing all of the themes that were displayed in the book, like at the end of the movie when the pigs were in the house. The movie did a good job at showing how the pigs had taken over and became just like the humans. In my opinion, the movie was pretty good but if you’re looking to truly understand “Animal Farm” and the themes and messages within it, I suggest that you read the book instead.

The characters and actions that took place in the movie allegory the Russian Revolution. Mr. Jones is portrayed as Tsar Nicholas II, the last ruler. Mr. Jones was the last ruler of the farm. He was irresponsible to tend to his animals, cruel but sometimes kind-he would milk in the animal mash. Tsar Nicholas II was no less than Mr. Jones. Tsar Nicholas II was a poor leader, cruel but sometimes kind-he would hire kids to be spies so they would get money. Animalism in the movie portrays communism in the Russian Revolution. Animalism had no owners, no rich but no poor. The animals had a better life, were all equal, and everyone owned the farm. Communism in the Russian Revolution was when there were no owners, all people were equal, and the government owned the people and the people owned the government. Mollie portrayed the vain, selfish people in the Russian Revolution. Mollie was conceited. She loved her beauty and herself. She cared about herself more than she cared about Animal Farm. She only liked the people who gave her what she wanted. The vain and selfish people were just like Mollie. They only cared about themselves, thought about themselves, and went to other countries that gave them what they desired. Corruption of the pigs was well portrayed in the movie from the book. The pigs would eat spend their time eating and drinking while the other animals worked all day with little to no food/drink too consume. The pigs would also manipulate the seven (7) commandments to explain their behavior. The use of songs, poems, and slogans as propaganda was also accurately portrayed in the movie compared to the novel. Both the novel and the film used “Beasts of England,” “Four legs good, two legs bad,” and poems to praise Napoleon. The film and the novel both portrayed animalism and the seven (7) commandments following the overthrow of Mr. Jones. Both the novel and the film help me understand the theme. The animals are still naive. They believe everything Napoleon says. They’re ignorant and unable and unwilling to speak up and act against Napoleon which makes them suffer even more. I enjoy the novel more than viewing the film. The film missed some events from the novel and didn’t portray everything as well.

  15. first i would like say. i really interested the animals farm because they've have so many project to make you learned. well animals farm at the beginning of the book symbolizes a society. The animals farm for a meeting inn the big barn.He tells them of a dream he has had which all animal live together with no human being to oppress or control them.He tells the animal they must to work toward such a paradise and a teaches them a song called "beasts of England" The animal greet major's vision is lyrically described. When he dies only three nights after the meeting, three younger pigs. There are number one of conflict in animal farm.the animal farm versus Mr. jones snowball. versus napoleon, the common animal versus the pigs, animal farm versus the neighboring human but of the them are expression of the underlying tension between the exploited exploiting classes and between the lofty ideals. The narrator is never involved in the action of the story but seems to appear somewhere outside or above everything that is going on. they had a little bit of communist because of the animals being treated equal and sharing in both responsibilities ans reward of the farm.

  16. A Review of Animal farm : By Maya Clarke : I give this movie a 5/10 rating because i dont like animal movies , especially talking animal movies . It seems to get kinda silly to have animals thinking they can run/own a farm and get rid of humans. This movie is good to put on for a classroom after reading a novel . If you watch it before you read the novel i think it will e a little harder to understand . They won’t have a background of the movie unless they read the book first . This movie does accurately allegorizes the Russian revolution. They couldn’t make the family look anymore like Nazis. The movie does accurately portray the character , especially at the end where Mr.Jones and Napoleon laugh at the same time the same way . Then jessie is in the window watching and she says , “i can’t tell the difference between the two “. The film did help me understand the story or theme as much as the novel did because there wasn’t that many differences from the novel. So it’s not like one thing says something and the other says something else . I wouldn’t really recommend this movie to people . I also noticed how in the beginning of the movie there were kids with Mrs. and Mr. Jones . I don’t seem to recall the book talking about kids in the beginning . There was also a point in the movie where Mr. and Mrs. Jones were having sex. That definitely didn't happen in the book. Overall i think the book was okay and the movie was okay

  17. I thought the book was better than the movie. The movie was kind of off on the timing when Old Major death. His speech was shorter and different in the book. In the book Molly is mentioned but Molly wasn’t even in the film. The book and the movie has two different endings. In the movie Napoleon was meeting up with humans at the end of the movie. But in the book he was meeting up with many other pigs. (Tajenae)

  18. Pedro Inga The movie accurately portrayed the Russian Revolution although there were many differences compared to the book. The movie had many scenes showing the humans and their life styles but in the book there were barely anything about the humans. If you were to not read the book, you would still understand that the movie was about the Russian Revolution as long as you had some knowledge about the event. The film did help me understand the event more. Although there were many added scenes, there wasn’t really any major changes. The lines were about the same , the events that happened in the book was portrayed clearly in the movie, and the characters were clear on what role to play but I would not recommend this to anyone who is trying to understand the Russian Revolution more because the book is more informational and reliable.

  19. Dajenae bunch There were many differences between the novel Animal Farm and movie. In the movie they give more details about the humans. In the novel there were little details about the humans. The movie made the novel come alive but it wasn't all that great.I believe that there was so much more that they could have done. The novel formed the characters more. I personally think if you are not the author you shouldn't try to turn a book in to a movie. There was no main character in the novel but some how there was one in the movie. In the movie the animals get new owners .In the book the pigs turn in to humans and that's the end. Who every made this movie needs to have a serious conversation with themselves.
